How long does it take,
Before a "soul" can break;
Sitting in the darkest hour,
In the brightest light of day?
How much pain and suffering--
Can show "us" all the way;
When we sit here wondering
From day to day to day?
How much litigation
Just to fill our medication--
How much medication
To forget the litigation???
Is not "one" soul better,
Than the "one" whom lives next door?
I curse the day upon,
The injury that I bore...
Does not a single soul, care about
The injuries "we've"sustained?"
I worked for those in need
And never got repaid...
I do not seek redemption,
But my heart aches all the same;
If "they" were walking in my shoes--
They'd put themselves to shame!
How do people sleep at night
While we struggle for the same--
In the words of "Patti Smith,"
"It's all a vicioius game"
I've missed my friends and family
And those I hold to my heart dear,
I've become a single soldier
Fighting war, depression and fear...
And so to those that have helped me,
I give my thanks and gratitude;
And hope and pray that those amongst us,
Will not fight and fude...
I've made many friends,
Along my weary way;
To those whom are more injured
Than I can ever say...
To each and every one of you--
I'll bow my head and pray,
That the good Lord will sustain you all
In each and every way!
The title of my message
Is easy to convey--
Let's not take any more of this
Lest we all fade away...
We need to band together
And not lose thought of why we're here;
Days turn into months,
And months turn into years...
More and more is how
Dependent I've become,
On the friends that I have made;
I hold no grudges to anyone-my bed is already made
In closing, I CARE for
All of you--
Although at times we've disagreed
My wish is that we "someday" will be "whole" and
Finally Be free!
