An important scientific innovation rarely makes its way by gradually winning over and converting its opponents: it rarely happens that Saul becomes Paul. What does happen is that its opponents gradually die out, and that the growing generation is familiarised with the ideas from the beginning.

Currently the second edition is what is used. The CA MTUS (medical treatment utilization schedule) also has accupunture guidelines that supercede ACOEM now.

While it is not yet accepted the DWC is also looking to supplement ACOEM by using the updated chapter for the elbow and also incorporating the Official Disability Guidelines (ODG) for Chronic Pain and for the post-surgical guidelines for post operative PT.
