I have a small service business (Corp., Sub-S) for plastic injection molding companies. It appears that I will be able to pickup several new employees, each in a different state. These new employees will be scattered from one coast to the other. This should be happening with in the next 4 to 6 months.
Question(s):
1.) Will it be necessary to obtain a separate WC Policy for each state?
2.) Is there any single company writing WC for all 48 states?
3.) What should I be aware of when attempting to obtain a policy for this purpose?
.
Any assistance would be appricated.
Bud

1. Yes, because there is no such thing as a nationwide policy and the insurance companies are licensed state by state by their requirements. So
2. Many but they are probably not licensed for each insurance company in each state, so while companies like AIG, Chubb, etc. write comp in all states, the actual "paper" may each have a different insurance company name, but there are states that have only the State Compensation Fund equivalent
3. Find a smart broker, you need one.
