An EAMS glitch has come to light: When legacy files were converted into EAMS, clerks occasionally left the insurer/TPA field blank or entered "unknown." In all of those cases, EAMS automatically joined the Uninsured Employers Fund. I was told that thousands of cases are involved. When those cases, most of which have insurers/TPAs assigned, go onto calendar, they must be scheduled on days when a UEF attorney is set to be at that WCAB District Office.

I talked to my friend who works for the DIR as an attroney and handles some of the UEF claims and he confirmed that one of the UEF adjusters has to spend a considerable amount of time daily to clearing tasks off of EAMS which have nothing to do with UEF.

Unfortunately they are also having a problem with being knocked out as a party on casaes where they are party. If someone enters case information and anything is slightly different, like a date of birth or middle initial or something, EAMS creates a new file and UEF is not listed as a party to that new file.
