I understand we cannot file liens via EDEX anymore. I just have a couple of questions and hope this is the right forum.

1. I downloaded the Lien Form #6 from the state. I there an active PDF formatted form that I can fill-in via computer or do I have to type it on a typewriter? Like the previous DOR form.

2. Once I know the method of how to fill-out the form. Can I mail the Lien to the board and parties or do I really have to go to the WCAB location to file the lien? If I have to go to the WCAB, lets say Long Beach, can I file in Oxnard for a Long Beach WCAB? I am located in Ventura County.

Thanks

I do not know the answer to your question. However, David DePaolo who gave an excellent 30 min presentation on this topic 8/2/08 will again address this issue at the Encore presentation of Liens: A Town Hall Meeting 9/27/08.

The forms on WorkCompCentral have data fields in them so you can fill them out on your computer, and even save to our server for further reference/use.

The new forms (OCR forms) are still in "draft" state - they have "draft" watermarked on them. They should be "final" (pending regulatory approval in October if everything goes well) as of August 25. They will be available on the WCAB site, as well as on WorkCompCentral.

If you are a WorkCompCentral EDEX user, you can auto-populate these forms (both old and new) with your EDEX data - either from existing EDEX data from prior inquiries, or from a new EDEX inquiry.

You can mail the lien (and supporting documents - VERY important) to the WCAB. I don't recommend you mail if you can avoid it, however, as WCAB personnel are going to be buried for some time trying to get through all of the old forms, and you risk your documents getting damaged so they do not scan in to EAMS. You are better off delivering to the correct WCAB venue with a copy in hand to conform for evidence of filing status in the event your paper gets lost, or incorrectly entered, etc.

No - if the case is in Long Beach, you must file in Long Beach. You can not file in Oxnard - it will be rejected.

I am a lien rep, we offer a service to deliver liens to any Southern CA WCAB. I recommend you file them in bulk, because even though I have trained non-lien rep personnel to do this accurately, the cost of gas, parking and paying my staff makes it about $150 per trip if we are not appearing there that week. If there are multiple boards which can be clustered, the fee is then reducted.

Email me if that sounds like a service you could use.

I understand we don't use Green Paper anymore. Is that correct? No 2 hole punch either.

gaiassoul1, please let me know your fees to file liens in court

no colored paper at all

no two whole punches

you will need a cover sheet to identify the type of documents filed with the liens

no staples

no bent papers, no copies of copies. originals preferred

use a sans serif font, which means a font with feet like Times New Roman or Courier, this is not a font with feet.

I will email you re; fees

Ginger,

Times New Roman is a serif font. Perhaps it is preferred, but not other serif fonts?

Arial, Helvetica and Courier are sans serif fonts.

Times New Roman and Courier, the requested fonts for EAMS participation, are both serif-style fonts.
