I want to alert everyone of the technical problems we experienced yesterday afternoon, and which may still persist to some extent through today.

The issue is that one of the host name servers on the internet - that is one of the computers that knows when someone seeks out "www.workcompcentral.com" to point them to our server - went out. While we have back up host name servers, some people's internet service providers will still point to the server that went out due to caching (which helps make the internet as fast as it is). As a consequence some folks may not be able to get to some of our sites, such as the main www.workcompcentral.com.

We have taken all of the actions necessary to bring things back to normal.

I apologize, but unfortunately at this point there is nothing further we can do until ISP domain name servers clear their caches and reaquire the new host name server addresses.

David,

I'm not too technical, but I think you said we have to wait till the dust settles?

If so, and if someone had problems and couldn't log on....how would they be able to read the explanation they need to wait?

Don't answer that...I don't think I have a "Need to Know."

Hi Stew:

Well, I'm going to answer it anyhow!!

We actually have several websites with different URLs. So, as you may have experienced, you would have been able to pull up www.workcompforums.com, but not www.workcompcentral.com, or www.workcompads.com, etc.

It was a real mess Thursday night, and again I apologize for the down time anyone may have experienced. It won't happen again!!

Hi David,

I too was unable to connect since Wednesday night. I finally got through Saturday morning. I went through withdrawal symptoms. I even emailed Steve Appel to see if he was having problems connecting as well. I did call Kimberly from your office, or was it Kristin, and she explained that the technical difficulties were not coming from my DSL. Scary thing. I don't know what I would do without you guys.
