This case goes back 30 years ago but it will always hold dear to my investigative mind.

I was 30 years old at the time. I had just graduated from the police academy not more than 2 weeks before. After serving 4 years in the Army and 15 months in Viet-nam as an Airborne Ranger, I was pretty much in top physical and mental condition and had seen enough dead bodies that seeing one as a police officer would not upset me as it did with other younger, non experienced officers. This case had to do with a missing person who was the driver of a Honda motor cycle.

It was mid August at 3'oclock in the morning on a Saturday when I heard, County 43! I responded, 43 go ahead. 43, respond to Route one five three at toll gate. Three car accident with motrocycle. 10-4. 43 10-22. Lights and siren blasting traveling at a high rate of speed I responded to the accident scene arriving exactually 4 minutes after receiving the call from County Dispatch. I was immediately met by the drivers of the three automobiles. I asked where the driver of the motorcycle was. The other drivers said, " He was here and then poof, he was gone!

I immediately called fire rescue and requested a canine officer with dog. Perhaps the dog could track the motorcycle driver from the accident scene.

The short of a long story, The impact of the collision caused the driver of the motorcycle to be ejected from the seat straight upward where he became lodged 40 feet in a tree. The odd thing was the dog was not able to track past the tree and each time he arrived at the tree he would sit and bark. That told us the driver was here! But where?

We looked up and and could not believe what we saw.
