A "Brief" (yuk yuk!) tip.

If you:

1) Hit SEARCH to bring up the search page.
2) Then use only a SPACE character (hit the big long space bar once) as the "SEARCH PHRASE" term.
3) Select "Title OR Body".
4) Don't select any "Author".
5) Check only "Brief Bank" under "Forum Categories".
6) Hit "SEARCH" and...

Voila!

"TWO PAGES" of previously submitted "BRIEFS' that are otherwise MIA.

Enjoy...

Art,

A great "hack!"

I tried Lexis.com and searched for "space" and limited it to the last 6 months. Great Idea! All cases have a "space" in them! Anyhow, I ran one search for both the CCC's and "WCAB Noteworthy Panel Decisions" at the same time (not the same as "Significant Panel Decisons"). I got 7 Noteworthy Panel decisions and 238 CCC cites! That is, ALL Lexis.com cases dealing with w/c for the past 6 months!

They're not all lined up in date sequence, but all the most recent cases are there. I tried the past 10 years and got an error message: over 3k hits!

Stew,

Thanks. davidd posted something awhile back about how to access the MIA Briefs but I couldn't recall what it was. After several days of subliminal angst over this the simplest solution just popped into my head.

Also of sublime handiness is using Google to search a specific site by merely using "site:" (w/o quotes) in Googles search box to separate the search term you're using from the site you want to search. It can be very inclusive though, e.g. searching apple.com for iMac using "iMac site:apple.com" (w/o quotes) yields 64,200 hits.

BTW: A friend of mine who used to live in your old stomping grounds back in the '70's (Eureka/Arcata area) just returned there last month for 2 wks of consultant work and said it's hardly changed over the years and she's tempted to move back as it's still as beautiful as she remembered it.

Glad you found searching for something, using nothing, handy.

Later...

This tip had disappeared, so I'm simply making it visible again.

Art,

Glad you did. I'd forgotten about it. Now I can use it!
